About
A therapist for women who don't have time for therapy-speak.
Candace is a licensed therapist in Indianapolis whose practice is built around one thing: the specific cost of being the person everyone else counts on.
I'm a licensed trauma-informed psychotherapist in Indianapolis, and my practice is built around one thing: helping women who've carried something heavy find their way back to a life that feels like their own.
I started this practice for the clients I kept seeing in other rooms - women who'd been through real things (trauma, loss, a career that asked too much, grief that wouldn't agree to a timeline) and who arrived quietly exhausted from holding it all together alone. Veterans. First responders. Women in high-stakes or complex careers who knew what secondary trauma and burnout felt like from the inside. They weren't "sick." They were tired in a way that rest didn't fix, and they were asking, under their breath, whether there was a way through that didn't require them to keep performing while they did it.
I built this practice to give that kind of client the room to answer that question honestly - with someone who wouldn't panic, pathologize, or rush to reassure them.
My training
I'm a trauma-informed psychotherapist with a background in trauma processing, grief work, and crisis stabilization. My work integrates trauma-informed principles, mindfulness, and emotion regulation, with attention to both emotional processing and nervous system regulation. In plain language: I work with what's happening in your thoughts, what's happening in your body, and the patterns that shaped how you learned to cope in the first place.
I'm also experienced in supporting clients navigating suicidal ideation, self-harm, and acute crisis, and I approach those conversations with care and without judgment.
I believe healing isn't about erasing what happened. It's about reclaiming a sense of safety, purpose, and connection in the present.
How I show up in the room
Calm, steady, direct, not breakable. I ask real questions and sit with you while you work out answers you didn't know you had. I won't rush you toward resolution or flinch at what you bring in. The tools you build in this work should honor who you already are - your strengths, your values, the things that have kept you going.
"Healing isn't about erasing the past. It's about reclaiming your sense of safety, purpose, and connection in the present."
Outside the office
I live in Indianapolis with a too-large dog and a too-small garden. I read fiction I don't always finish, run slowly, and am learning - badly - to play the piano.
